Advanced Stove and Fireplace Ltd.

In 2010 we had a truss package and a 9/12 pitch metal roof installed on our house which previously had a low slope roof. When the trusses were installed, there was an error and  one of the trusses was placed directly over  the masonry mass where the new extended stove pipe would need to be. We contacted several professionals in our area, and over a period of a year,  were finally told it would not be possible and we would have to go with a pellet stove, which was going to cost over $6K installed.  We had a perfectly good 4 year old insert that had cost over $3,000  installed and were sick at the prospect of selling it for 800.00 which is what we were told we would get for a used insert.

In a last effort, before giving up and selling our insert, I contacted Paddy Brown from Advanced Stove and Fireplace in Kimberly and he diagnosed our problem over the phone by suggesting we move the truss to create the necessary clearance for the pipe. This may seem like a simple solution in hindsight, but none of the professionals came up with this idea previously. In fact, we were told that even if it could be done, the pipe would be too long and there would be too much draw,  the parts would were not available etc.

Paddy found the parts we needed, assured us the increased draw would  be beneficial and we contacted our local  building inspector who agreed. We received permission to move the truss, —and within one month of contacting Advanced  , we were using our stove.  The stove now lights easier, we don’t suffer from smoke entering our living room every time we open the door to put another stick of wood in and we are very happy.
